Synod Pastor Committee

For many, many years the Uniting Church has been greatly assisted by lay persons who have made themselves available for full time service to the church, and served as Lay Pastors. While the Specified Ministry of Lay Pastor closed to new applicants at the end of 2007, the Uniting Church remains open to people offering themselves for full time (or significant time) service, and available to the whole church as Pastors.

The Synod Pastor Committee is appointed to consider and determine Pastor applications under Reg 2.14.6 (b), and oversees processes to address recruitment, training and recognition of such people. Persons serving the church in this way will be known as Pastors, and will relate to the Church through the specified ministry of the Ministry of Pastor.

More information about the Ministry of Pastor is available at http://ctm.uca.edu.au/Pastor. Guidelines & procedures, regulations, checklists, rules and competency information are available on the page http://ctm.uca.edu.au/PastorResources.

The chairperson of the Synod Pastor Committee is Rev Deacon Jenny Preston, who can be contacted through the Synod's Lay Leadership Educator at the CTM.
