People in specified ministries are encouraged to undertake life long learning to:

  • deepen your devotion to Christ;
  • explore creative new scholarship  
  • enhance your passion for ministry; 
  • be encouraged by colleagues; 
  • enrich the practice of ministry
  • help overcome the isolation of ministry  and explore new directions for the church and ministry in a changed context.

This year there will be three opportunities to join an on-line reading group that focuses on a pre-selected book for a month.

Directions in New Testament Scholarship & the implications for congregational & pastoral ministryDom Crossan will be lead a conversation from 1-3. This will be followed by afternoon tea and further conversation.

Unfortunately we had to cancel the School of Ministry this year so I am attaching a bibliography I prepared in anticipation. It has books and websites which reflect the themes of the conference including neighbourhood, Christian practices, self-care for sustaining ministry, stories of faith and ministry and ministry in ordinary times.

The Scholar on the Road program involves each member of the Uniting Church’s Theological College Faculty committing to give the equivalent of 4 days per year to the Scholars on the Road program.
