Adult Christian Education

We are never to old to grow more in our faith, to learn more about God's way in Jesus, and to explore new ways to discern the Spirit's guidance. Learning for adult discipleship is central to being a vital faith community. There are a number of programs, resources, and ways to approach adult Christian education that the Discipleship Education unit can assist with to suit your congregational needs. The core of what makes us who we are as a church is our:
  • worship of God in Jesus Christ
  • desire to follow the way of Christ
  • belief that the Holy Spirit guides us and that we can discern its influence

Adult Christian education can surely be founded upon these essentials of being a faith community. Learning, worship and mission do 'go together' and hopefully each will inform the other as adults continually grow in understanding the role and promise of faith in influencing and shaping the ways that we live out the normal routine of our lives. As we do all this together, we shall grow more - personally and as a faith community - in:
  • responding to God's grace and enhancing our worship in response to this
  • learning to be disciples of Jesus Christ
  • understanding more of who we are as Christians - today and tomorrow

There is a range of resources to assist with adult Christian education. The Discipleship Education staff are available to assist your congregation/cluster in a variety of ways.
  • We can have a chat with you (or a group) about what possibilities there might be in your context to commence or further develop adult Christian education opportunities.
  • We can provide training on a variety of adult Christian education resources that may be of interest to your congregation/cluster (see below for a list of resources).
  • We can provide consultation services to examine ways that adult Christian education may be meshed with the overall life and mission of your congregation/cluster.
  • We can be used as a 'sounding board' to explore any themes you might want to explore in relation to adult Christian education.
