To Offer the Best we can in God's Service: Use of Resources
The 2011 Annual Conference of the Lay Preachers' Association of the Uniting Church Synod of Victoria and Tasmania will be held at the Centre for Theology and Ministry (CTM), 29 College Crescent Parkville on
Saturday 2 April 2011 from 9:30am to 4:15pm
Here is this year's first opportunity to meet with Lay Preachers, Candidates and others who lead worship from across the Synod to explore the conference theme, To Offer the Best we can in God's Service: Use of Resources. This year the focus is on two areas which can cause problems for Lay Preachers and worship leaders:
- Negotiating copyright minefields - Leanne Whitechurch from Synod Legal Services
- Selecting appropriate music - Rev Judith Watkins for music selection
In addition, participants will have an opportunity to take part in the Ministerial Education Commission's reivew of Lay Preaching (there will also be other opportunities for doing this in your presbyteries).
Who May Attend?
Lay Preachers, Candidates, worship leaders, and all interested people.
Cost
The cost of $20.00 per person covers lunch, morning and afternoon teas as well as the conference fee. It should be paid on the day by cheque or correct change if possible.
Venue
The Centre for Theology and Ministry (CTM) is in College Crescent, opposite the gate to Melbourne General Cemetery.
Parking
Ample street parking, at 60 cents per hour.

Annual General Meeting
The Annual General Meeting of the Lay Preachers' Association of Victoria and Tasmania will follow the conference program. All attending the conference are welcome to attend and may participate in the discussions; voting is restricted to accredited Lay Preachers. The agenda includes the election of the Association's office-bearers for 2011. Nominations may be submitted only by Lay Preachers on the nomination form available from the Secretary.
Each Presbytery appoints one Lay Preacher to the Association's Committee of Management, which meets by teleconference four times per year.
