Visiting Scholars Program

The Visiting Scholars Program at UCTC aims to develop and enhance research, publication, and scholarly conversation, in the theological disciplines, or in a related and innovative cross-disciplinary area by supporting scholars in short visits (normally 3 to 4 weeks) to the UCA Centre for Theology and Ministry.

Objectives

  1. To support research which is of international standard, especially drawing on the collection of the Dalton McCaughey Library, and the Sugden Heritage Collection at Queen’s College, both in Melbourne.
  2. To ensure that the results of theological and related research are made available in appropriate publications.
  3. To enrich the theological formation of UCTC candidates through theological conversation.

Selection criteria

Scholars will be selected on the following criteria:

  • demonstrated excellence or potential for excellence in theological research;
  • the potential for the research to continue following the scholarship;
  • the consonance of the proposed research with the existing research interests of Faculty of the Uniting Church Theological College (UCTC);
  • demonstrated capability to communicate with theological students about their research;
  • contribution to the theological life of the UCTC and its ecumenical partners.

Application procedure

An invitation to lodge an expression of interest will be posted on the CTM website, closing in April and November each year.   Normally two appointments will be made each year, broadly one each in first and second semester.
