Taking a retreat is a formative and renewing experience. There are many opportunities for reatreat experiences in the life of the church. You could organise a personal retreat or join a group. Summary: 

Joan Wright Howie is a Uniting Church minister and Spiritual Director. She became half time Spiritual Formation Advisor for the CTM in Jan 2007. Her role is to develop resources for nurturing spiritual formation in the VicTas Synod. Joan holds a B.A. B.Theol and M.A. in spiritual direction and has a particular interest in tending the embodied lived experience of encountering God’s grace. Amidst mothering she has been in congregational ministry at Burwood and Fitzroy Uniting Churches, worked as coordinator of the Synod Lacuna project, and offered supply ministry in several Melbourne congregations.
