Developing an ear for story
Storyteller Julie Perrin brings an ear for metaphor and a careful listening that enables people to draw on their own stories. This workshop will offer practice in locating and telling stories and honouring the listening experience.
Wisdom and Consolation : A New Testament Perspective.
This workshop will explore themes of comfort and the life of Jesus with a focus on 2 texts 2 Corinthians 1 & Matthew 11. It will be lead by Sean Winter, professor of New Testament CTM.
Hopes and Conversations.
The MPRU will lead a workshop that will give participants a greater understanding appreciative inquiry and the missional church and how to use these in your ministry context.
Art and the Old Testament
Jane Wollard, playwright and director and Howard Wallace, Professor of Old Testament, CTM will lead a workshop that explores some issues in working wiht the biblical text in contemporary arts unpack how the arts are a medium for understanding and exegeting the Old Testament.
Death and Dying from a Cross-Cultural Perspective
Randall Prior, Professor of Ministry Studies and Missiology CTM and Ji Zhang, recent Sanderson Fellow and minister at Bentleigh Congregation will lead a workshop that examines the role of culture in the rituals and practices at the time of death and how to offer ministry to those from a migrant-ethnic background through the death and grief process.
The Art in Ministry
Taking a multi modal approach to art making this workshop will explore possibilities of engaging with the arts in preaching, teaching and pastoral care. This workshop will be experiential in nature; all that is required is a willingness to play.
Embodying the prophetic
This workshop will build on themes from the play Prophet and Loss on such issues as grief and healing, justice and reconciliation in ministry. It will also consider how a prophetic perspective/theology informs agency policy and practice. The workshop will be led by John Bottomley the Director of the Creative Ministries Network in St Kilda.
