A unique Continuing Education opportunity from Pilgrim Theological College at the NGV:

Do you use art as a way of engaging your community/congregation in liturgy or preaching and teaching? Or would you like to use art more readily to enhance your church’s life and witness, but are not confident in how to do this?  Art is a powerful medium through which to understand both our surrounding culture and the faith of the church, and how those aspects relate to each other.

This is a three-day program designed to give you an introduction to the key concepts and practices of ministering with congregations and agencies in times of transition. (Isn’t that all of them nowadays?). While it is a stand-alone program, it is also the first phase of training that leads to being qualified as an Intentional Interim Minister. Thus, it is useful for anyone in lay or ordained ministry who is dealing with change, transition and new opportunities, and also for those exploring a call to Intentional Interim Ministry.

In realms of religion, the word “belief” is often used. What do you believe? Do you agree with this belief? Or that belief? Do you think what
you believe is true? This seminar will move the focus of belief away from what we believe to who we believe. Focusing on a central question of “tell us a time when you were believed” we will uncover the power of belief when it’s enacted as a reciprocal and life-giving gesture, especially when it is least expected.

Everywhere we are surrounded by story. Someone will say “You’ll never guess what happened me on the tram today”, or “I can’t believe my boss is such an idiot”. Behind every statement lies a story, and behind every story lies another story. This session will use narrative technique to bring stories out in the gathered room, and share narrative techniques for use in congregational and community groups.
