The VicTas Art and Spirituality Network are pleased to welcome Ilka White to speak about her practice, illustrated in particular by place-responsive work from the past decade.
Trained as a weaver, Ilka’s practice now spans projects in textiles, drawing, sculpture and installation, video, art-in-community and cross disciplinary collaboration. Last year she completed work about her relationship to the Merri billabong for the Tamworth Textile Triennial. Made in collaboration with a photographer, philosopher, jeweler, printer, embroiderers and others, the work dwells on the central theme of inter-connection. Ilka welcomes questions and discussion about her work’s material, technical, conceptual, collaborative and/or environmental aspects and its relevance to the work and thinking of others.
