As you may be aware, one of the ways the Centre for Theology & Ministry provides support to those engaged in ministry with youth across the Synod is through the provision of funding to attend training events. One such event you might consider applying for funding to participate in is the upcoming National Youth Ministry Convention (NYMC) which will take place from on the Gold Coast in October.
NYMC is one of Australia’s most significant training events for ministry with youth and young adults. The last conference was attended by 60 plus Uniting Church leaders, ministers, volunteers, chaplains and practitioners from around the country who, in addition to 600 others, enjoyed the opportunity to connect with one another. NYMC15 promises to be another great experience of live-in community, individual retreat space, worship, prayer, stimulating content and excellent networking opportunities. To connect with and to stay with other UCA people attending register as part of our group. Instructions to do this are on the Assembly website here.
To assist in funding your participation at NYMC15, you might like to apply for financial support from the Centre before July 31, 2015. Should your application be successful, you will be required to write a short reflection after the conference that expresses some of your learning, insights and possible next steps in your ministry that we will be able to publish and share with other people.
If you are intending to apply for a grant, please let me know as soon as possible. To actually apply for a grant, go to funding opportunities area of the site and download the application form for Funding. Complete and return the form asap (noting that there is a section for your minister/church council to indicate their support, your application may be considered more favourably if there is an indication of financial support from your congregation and an early Bird Conference registration rate is available until June 30, 2015).
If you have any questions about NYMC, this application process or any other professional development opportunities you are considering, please feel free to contact me via e-mail or phone (03) 9340 8808.
Blessings
